Pitti Palace. Palatine Gallery. The official guide

The Palatine Gallery, housed on the first floor of the Palace built by Luca Pitti, incorporates the collection of the Medici and the Hapsburg-Lorraine families and offers the finest example of a private court “quadreria” or assembly of pictures. First opened to the public in 1834, the rooms lead into the less well known but fascinating Royal Apartments, occupied by the later Medici, the Lorrains and the House of Savoy.
